Leaving an enemy untouched after engaging them for even a short moment will result in health regeneration and you may find yourself having to fight a completely refreshed enemy. This mechanic is buffed with every OP level and is brutally noticeable in OP 8. Enemy Health Regeneration is pretty self explanatory, but I will discuss it briefly, Health Gating is key.Įnemy Health Regen: With the introduction of UVHM, or Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, Gearbox added a mechanic where enemies will recover health over time if left undamaged. There are three very important mechanics one must understand in order to be successful at the Peak: Enemy Health Regen, FFYL timer resets, and Health Gating. Understanding certain mechanics and accounting for them in your character(s) build and loadout will save a lot of grief. It took me about a month to clear OP 8 Digistruct Peak solo for the first time, and it has gotten easier with each repeated run. This makes it quite challenging, even in the lower levels, for a solo player like myself and about 70% of Gearbox's Borderlands customer base. While the rest of the game balances accordingly, Digistruct Peak was never truly intended for solo play and has been balanced for a full lobby of four players. Unlike other challenges, should you be able to complete this one on OP 8 the final boss is guaranteed to drop a Pearlescent weapon. Tannis and she will give the mission again, much like other repeatable challenges such as the Bar Room Brawl in the Torgue DLC. Each time it is completed, there is a quest reward from Dr. On the other side of that, if a player wants a true challenge, they can play the game at OP 8 at all times, utilizing OP 8 gear.ĭigistruct Peak is a repeatable challenge map accessible by fast travelling to The Raid On Digistruct Peak. This means that a player could potentially utilize level 80 equips in a level 72 game, or as low as a Normal difficulty lobby. At OP 8, the game is scaled as if the game were actually level 80, thus everything is levelled over the player by 8-12 levels.īy unlocking Overpower Levels, the player can equip gear that is up to their maximum OP level in any difficulty playthrough. The challenge here is that while damage, gear, and enemies all scale up with each OP, the player stays at level 72 and does not continue to earn skill points, levels, or health as they would in standard leveling. By setting the game to OP 1 and running it again, the player can then unlock OP 2. Successful completion of the challenge unlocks Overpower Level 1 (OP 1). Once a player has reached level 72, they have the option of completing Digistruct Peak. A repeatable challenge map called Digistruct Peak was added and is where Overpower Leveling takes place. Upon release of the UVHM Upgrade Pack 2, Gearbox introduced a new challenge for players called Overpower Leveling, along with raising the cap from 61 to 72. This initial post will cover general information on OP 8, Digistruct Peak, and specific game mechanics important to successfully completing this map, and playing in OP 8 in general, and subsequent posts will breakdown class specifics including: gear, builds, and strategy for survivability at this level. NOTE: As I am currently unable to make my own videos, I will be using vids by others who have also demonstrated these methods as being successful, with proper credits to those individuals. As far as the Commando is concerned, I will be reaching out to others who are more familiar with that class for comprehensive information specific to that character. That being said, I have been working diligently on completing OP 8 Digistruct Peak solo, and have repeated doing so with three of my five characters, and can offer some useful information, both in general and specific to these (and eventually the other two) classes. I imagine there are still some who are struggling with OP 8, specifically Digistruct Peak, both seasoned players and anyone who may have jumped on with the GOTY release.
